From Mud to Mudd

I'm a student at Harvey Mudd College!!!!! Sooo exciting!!!!
Harvey Mudd College is a private school in Claremont. Yup! I'm going to a big city! This country boy is wiping the mud off his boots and putting on "Mudd" instead.
In my college application process, my main criteria for choosing a college was how good they were at the pure sciences (Physics and Mathematics, for me), and also their research opportunities for these. Harvey Mudd was my third choice, but since I'm gonna have to go SOMEWHERE for Grad school, I'm still looking at hopefully MIT or Caltech. And although Yale hilariously tempted me with their free T-Shirt and Water Bottle, they just couldn't beat Mudd's Cards (or their scholarship đź‘€).
So.... I've already had some classes at Mudd, and they are AMAZING!!!!! My Computer Science class's teacher, Zachary Dodds, was always SUPER PASSIONATE and EXCITING!!! My Abstract Algebra class is super tough, but I think everyone in that class is getting it tough. So it's a shared experience. As my prof Yesim Demiroglu says, "You learn math by doing math," so I better me learning a lot of math because her problems sets that can easily take 24 HOURS or much more (I'm looking at you, HW 3) or pure working ensure that I'm doing a lot of math.
Most of all, I'm so, so, so, so, so, so, so, SOOO excited for the physics research I can do here! One of the physics prof's told me that they hadn't had a student do Particle Physics research in a while, and with my Quantum Field Theory textbook close at hand, I could only smile as I thought of all the exciting research I could do. WHO KNOWS WHAT WE CAN DO WITH OTHER RESEARCH?!?!?! Chromodynamics? Nuclear Physics? Astrophysics? Only the future will tell...
